“East Los High” star Gabriel Chavarria is in talks to play one of two new human leads in “War of the Planet of the Apes,” an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap.
A representative for 20th Century Fox declined to comment.
After steering the franchise to new heights with “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” Matt Reeves returns to direct the big-budget sequel for 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment.
Mark Bomback wrote the script, though it’s unclear which characters will return aside from Andy Serkis’ motion-captured Caesar.
Chavarria will soon be seen alongside his “A Better Life” co-star Demian Bichir in Universal, Blumhouse and Imagine’s upcoming drama “Low Riders.” He’s represented by Paradigm.
