Ratings: Ellen Beats Team CoCo

Ratings are in for TBS’ pair of Sunday night comedy specials, and DeGeneres scored twice as many viewers as O’Brien’s writing team

When it comes to ratings, Conan O'Brien's writing team is no match for Ellen DeGeneres.

Numbers are in for a pair of comedy specials that aired on TBS Sunday night, and Ellen got twice as many viewers as a show featuring Conan's writers.

"Ellen's Somewhat Special Special" was seen by 1.28 million total viewers and 928,000 households at 9 p.m. "Team Coco Presents the Conan Writers Live" was seen by 620,000 total viewers and 501,000 households at 10 p.m.

Ellen also outscored the Conan writers in the adults 18-34 and adults 18-49 demographics.

Conan wasn't actually on the special, he's currently, in his words, "legally prohibited from being funny on television" due to the terms of his exit deal with NBC.

O'Brien will be anchoring TBS' late night lineup with a new 11 p.m. show starting on Nov. 8. TBS is clearly hoping the ex-"Tonight Show" host will fare better than his writers once his show premieres.
