Emmy Ballots Post Online Monday Night

Television Academy posts long lists of contenders; ballots due back by June 24

Emmy season, which has been quietly picking up intensity in recent weeks, will enter a crucial phase Monday after 6 p.m. PT, when the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences will post the Primetime Emmys ballot listings on its website.

A link on the site's homepage will allow voters to download the complete list of potential nominees in several dozen categories.

Unlike the Motion Picture Academy, which mails voters complete lists of qualifying films, the Television Academy relies on its online lists for a complete tally of the huge number of qualifying shows and possible nominees.

Actual Emmy nominating ballots, in the form of Scantron sheets, are being mailed to the approximately 15,000 voting members of the Academy, and will arrive by Friday, June 10. Voters have until June 24 to return those ballots to the Ernst & Young accounting firm.

Nominations will be announced on July 14. The Creative Arts Emmys, at which most of the Primetime Emmys categories will be awarded, will take place on Sept. 10, while the marquee awards will be handed out at the Primetime Emmys telecast on Sept. 18.

"Glee" star Jane Lynch will host the show and "Survivor" creator Mark Burnett will serve as executive producer.
