Emmys Host Andy Samberg Mocks ‘Mad Men’ Finale With Coca-Cola Commercial Parody (Video)

“It is a real bummer that there are more losers than winners,” Samberg said of the awards show. “If only there was something I could do …”

Emmys host Andy Samberg managed to send up “Mad Men’s” series finale and one of the TV’s most famous commercials in a short that played during the ceremony on Sunday.

Mimicking the now-iconic scene in which Don Draper (Jon Hamm) is depicted meditating, the “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star expresses his remorse at the fact that there are more losers than winners during the awards show.

“It is a real bummer that there are more losers than winners,” Samberg said in the short. “If only there was something I could do…”

The video then jump-cuts to a parody within a parody of Samberg and others singing on a hilltop a la the 1971 Coca-Cola commercial “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing.”

Belting out his own rendition of The Hillside Singers classic, Samberg handed out Emmys to everyone so “we can all be friends.” He then accidentally impales Jim O’Heir with a statuette, who played Jerry on “Parks and Recreation,” which was canceled back in May.

The video is abruptly pre-empted by an on-screen graphic that reads, “Emmys Can Kill,” sponsored by the Committee for Emmy Safety.
