‘Empire’ Star Trai Byers on Show’s Potential Early Return, More Season 2 Episodes (Video)

“They’re so supersecretive,” the actor says in new episode of TheWrap’s “Drinking With the Stars”

Trai Byers left a trail of performances behind when he took on the plum role of Lucious Lyon’s bipolar son Andre Lyon, who aspires to run the family’s music business.

Prior to landing his gig on Fox’s Emmy contender, Byers co-starred in the acclaimed 2014 Civil Rights film “Selma” and was familiar to TV fans for roles on “90210” and ABC daytime drama “All My Children.” But Byers, the eldest child of Terrence Howard (Lucious) and scene stealer Taraji P. Henson (Cookie), has arguably made his greatest impact so far as the smart foil to the best-laid schemes of a tough family of artists and brawlers.

The actor  joined TheWrap for a far-ranging interview in a new episode of “Drinking With the Stars” where he discussed how he prepared for the role, why he thinks “Empire” became a breakout hit and what’s next for his character.

But of course the big question on “Empire” fans’ minds is whether the show will return to the schedule early and will they get more episodes of Lee Daniels‘ soapy drama. When asked by TheWrap, Byers said viewers would be gifted with more episodes for Season 2.

Watch the video here and stay tuned for more of Trai’s interview next week at TheWrap.
