An entertainment industry attorney has been charged with having sex with a 14-year-old boy, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said Thursday.

Benjamin Lawson Adams, 31, faces charges of lewd acts upon a child, oral copulation of a person under 16, two counts of sexual penetration by a foreign object and one count of sodomy of a person under 16.

Adams has pleaded not guilty to the sex crimes charges. He is scheduled to returned to court Sept. 27.

Adams is accused of sexually assaulting the boy in September and October of 2015. He allegedly made contact with the victim via social media, then arranged to meet him in person.

He faces a possible maximum sentence of more than eight years in state prison if convicted as charged.

According to Adams’ LinkedIn account, he has worked at Bunim/Murray Productions and The Weinstein Company. His most recent LinkedIn employment entry lists him as a production attorney at MGM, beginning in December, though an individual familiar with the situation told TheWrap that Adams worked for a production entity that worked with MGM, and is no longer employed by that entity.

Topping the list of causes that Adams cares about on his LinkedIn page is “Children.”
