"Entertainment Tonight" has chosen former CNN reporter Rob Marciano as its new co-anchor, a spokeswoman for the show told "The Wrap."
Marciano will take his place alongside co-host Nancy O'Dell in January.

Marciano, who covered news and weather for CNN, called his new show "the gold standard in entertainment journalism" in a statement announcing the move.
“I am honored to be joining the distinguished and talented team at 'Entertainment Tonight,' all of whom are the gold standard in entertainment journalism,” he said. “For over 30 years, ET has been a powerhouse in the entertainment industry and to be part of that blue chip franchise is a dream come true.”
"Entertainment Tonight" executive producer Linda Bell Blue praised Marciano's "passion for news" and "knowledge about the entertainment industry."
“Rob brings with him a passion for news, a wealth of knowledge about the entertainment industry and an enormous amount of charisma that viewers have been responding to for years," Blue said in a statement. "We know he will be an outstanding fit for our show, our audience and the immensely talented Nancy O’Dell.”
A spokeswoman for CNN said that the move to "Entertainment Tonight" is a "terrific opportunity" for Marciano.
"This is a terrific opportunity for Rob," the spokeswoman said in a statement provided to TheWrap. "We thank him for all his years of reporting for CNN and we wish him the best of luck."
Marciano, who had been a news and weather anchor for CNN News Group since 2003, previously had stints as chief meteorologist at Portland, Oregon station KATU-TV and KPLC-TV in Lake Charles, Louisiana. His reports on Hurricane Katrina and the BP oil spill for CNN earned a Peabody Award.
