ESPN 3D Goes 24/7 on Valentine’s Day

Network will air round-the-clock, with replays when nothing is on live

This Valentine's Day may be even less romantic than usual for sports widows and widowers, because that's the day ESPN 3D will begin 24/7 programming.

ESPN announced Wednesday that it's round-the-clock schedule will begin Feb. 14. It now airs only selected games and events.

"As we continue to expand the number of 3D events on the channel, it made sense operationally to transition ESPN 3D to a 24-7 network," said Sean Bratches, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Disney and ESPN Media Networks.  "We've been very pleased with the rate at which our affiliates have adopted ESPN 3D in its first year and we continue to look for new ways to serve fans, advertisers and affiliates with the best 3D sports content available."

ESPN made the announcement at the International Consumer Electronics Show. Beginning Feb. 14, it will show replays of previously televised ESPN 3D programming when it isn't airing anything live.
