“His name is Lamar Odom and we knew it long before he got married on a TV show we don’t watch,” sports anchor says

ESPN anchor Scott Van Pelt is outraged that anyone would reduce Lamar Odom’s career to that of “Kardashian reality star” when he was known as an NBA standout long before “he got married on a TV show we don’t watch.”

“Kardashian reality star? No, no, no, no,” said Van Pelt. “Lamar Odom, unlike those for whom fame is oxygen, whose fame comes in the absence of accomplishment, his fame was earned.”

The anchor continued to list Odom’s accomplishments that preexisted his marriage to reality star Khloe Kardashian, which included Sixth Man of the Year honors as well as multiple NBA Championships.

“Everyone across the league, it seems, loves the man,” said Van Pelt.

His segment was provoked by two tweets posted by Bun B, who tweeted, “Word? A Kardashian reality star? Fuck his NBA career right Nancy Grace? He has a goddamn name. Lamar Odom. Vultures.”

Van Pelt continued to slam the media’s coverage of Odom, who was found unconscious in a brothel on Tuesday and has been showing minimal signs of improvement.

“Passed out in a brothel makes for one hell of a headline and I’m sure quite a juicy episode of TV, but stripped to the foundation it’s just incredibly sad,” Van Pelt said. “I understand not everyone watches sports, but ‘Kardashian reality star?’ His name is Lamar Odom, and we knew it long before he got married on a TV show we don’t watch.”

On Wednesday, the Nye County Sheriff said Odom used cocaine and sexual performance enhancing supplements on the weekend prior to his hospitalization. Since then, the Kardashian-Jenner clan as well as Odom’s family have flown to Sunrise Hospital in nearby Las Vegas.
