Former MMA fighter War Machine was sentenced to life in prison on Monday, after being foun guilty of 29 counts against him stemming from an attack on his ex-girlfriend, porn star Christy Mack, a spokeswoman for the Clark County, Nevada, district attorney’s office told TheWrap.

War Machine, who was born Jonathan Paul Koppenhaver, will be eligible for parole in 36 years.

In March, the former MMA fighter was found guilty of kidnapping and sexual assault, along with a host of other counts, by a jury. However, the jury deadlocked on two attempted murder charges.

The fighter was accused of beating Mack in 2014. Mack tweeted out photos of her injuries, as well as an account of the attack, which was published by the Washington Post.

“At about 2 am Friday morning, Jon Koppenhaver arrived unannounced to my home in Las Vegas, NV, after he broke up with me in May, he moved out of my house and back to San Diego,” Mack tweeted at the time. “When he arrived, he found myself and one other fully clothed and unarmed in the house. Without a single word spoken, he began beating my friend; once he was finished, he sent my friend away and turned his attention to me.”

Mack went on to say that the fighter “made me undress and shower in front of him, then dragged me out and beat my face. I have no recollection of how many times I was hit, I just know my injuries that resulted from my beating.”

Among the injuries that Mack said she sustained were “18 broken bones around my eyes,” a broken nose and missing teeth.
