EXCLUSIVE

Award-winning commercial director Fredrik Bond is attached to direct "Year 12," a sci-fi action movie that will be produced by Joe Roth, an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap.

"Year 12" was previously set up at Paramount, which recently put the project in turnaround, although it is expected to find a new home shortly.

Edward Ricourt wrote the spec script, which takes place 12 years after aliens have invaded Earth. Set in Manhattan, the story follows an underwater uranium miner who is recruited by the human resistance to smuggle uranium in his blood so they can use it to blow up the alien mothership.

Bond, an alum of NYU film school, started his career as a photographer. He has previously been attached to direct "Hack/Slash" for Rogue and the English-language remake of "The Host" for Universal.

Bond is represented by CAA and Management 360.
