Natalie Portman Fights for Her Family in First ‘Jane Got a Gun’ Trailer (Video)

Revisionist Western to premiere February 2016 in the U.S.

Mars Films released the first trailer for Natalie Portman‘s “Jane Got a Gun” on Wednesday.

The film stars Portman as Jane Hammond, a frontier woman who must take up arms when a gang of outlaws threatens to destroy the new life she has built with her husband and child.

The revisionist Western also stars Noah Emmerich, Joel Edgerton and Ewan McGregor. Gavin O’Connor directed, with Brian Duffield, Anthony Tambakis and Edgerton all credited with writing the screenplay.

“Jane Got a Gun” endured major cast and crew shake ups throughout its production, which also suffered as a result of the Relativity bankruptcy. Scheduling conflicts led to the departures of original stars Bradley Cooper, Jude Law and Michael Fassbender, while the project’s initial director Lynne Ramsay was replaced by O’Connor after filming was slated to begin.

“Jane Got a Gun” will debut in Europe on Nov. 25 and in the U.S. in February 2016.
