First Look: Broadway’s $60M ‘Spider-Man’ Musical

Can Julie Taymor, Bono, and The Edge pull off a superhero play that sings and swings?

More than a decade ago, Julie Taymor pulled off the miraculous and made a stage version of "The Lion King" that was actually really, really good in its own right. By teaming up with Bono and The Edge can the avant garde director do the same with a famous web-spinner?

"Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" swings onto Broadway on Jan. 11, 2011, having endured injuries to its cast and delays. It's also racked up a rumored $60 million in costs. Producers released a TV spot this week that gives audiences a sneak peek at a show that already has the critics circling.
