‘Marvel’s Inhumans’ Teaser: First Look Sets Up Main Conflict of ABC Series (Video)

“Are we supposed to follow our king and remain as silent as he is?” asks Maximus

The first teaser for “Marvel’s Inhumans” hit the web on Friday and while it doesn’t reveal any new footage, we do learn a bit of what we’re going to experience.

There’s nothing too visual about the teaser — what we do get are a few lines of dialogue that set up the main conflict of the series. It comes down to political differences between the king of the Inhumans Black Bolt (Anson Mount) and his brother Maximus (Iwan Rheon).

“Are we supposed to follow our king and remain as silent as he is?” asks Maximus. This is sort of a joke, since Black Bolt’s power involves being able to level cities with just the sound of his voice.

“You’re talking about betraying your brother. You’re talking about treason,” responds another character, either Medusa or Crystal.

“I’m talking about his freedom, freedom for all Inhumans,” Maximus concludes as a logo appears on screen.

As many suspected, the plot will involve an internal war between Maximus and Black Bolt who, in the comics, are brothers but also mortal enemies.

This is the latest push by Marvel to market its latest TV outing. On Thursday, Entertainment Weekly published a first look at the core cast in costume, which didn’t go over so well with fans.

“Inhumans” is set to premiere in IMAX on Sept. 1 before airing on ABC Sept. 26.
