Former ‘Today’ Anchors Bryant Gumbel, Jane Pauley to Guest Host With Matt Lauer

The pair co-hosted the NBC morning program for seven years in the 1980s

Former “Today” anchors Bryant Gumbel and Jane Pauley are reuniting for a guest-hosting stint alongside Matt Lauer on the NBC morning news program on Monday, the network announced on Thursday.

Gumbel and Pauley anchored the show together for seven years from 1982 to 1989, the year Pauley left, while Gumbel moved on after 15 years in 1997.

The pair previously reunited on the show with several other former anchors when “Today” celebrated its 60th anniversary in January 2012.

Pauley continues to appear on the show monthly for her “Life Reimagined TODAY” segment, in which she spotlights Americans over 50 embarking on new careers, while Gumbel hosts HBO’s “Real Sports.”
