Fox 2000 Pictures is entering the young adult market aggressively.
The company has signed a first look, overall deal with book development company Paper Lantern Lit.
The studio has also inked a separate deal with the company’s co-founder, bestselling novelist Lauren Oliver.
Under the two deals, Fox will have first look rights to develop and produce works by Paper Lantern Lit and its team of writers, as well as those from Oliver.
Additionally, the division has purchased the rights to Oliver’s recently published second novel, "Delirium." The best-seller is setting in a dystopian world where love can be cured.
The project was optioned by producer Paula Mazur and Miami bookseller Mitchell Kaplan through their Mazur/Kaplan Company before bringing it to Fox 2000.
The relationship between Fox 2000 Pictures and Oliver began last year when the division obtained the rights to the author's teen novel "Before I Fall."
Formed in 2010, Paper Lantern Lit has made five deals with major U.S. publishers, selling 13 books total, and racked up more nearly twenty foreign licenses as well.
