Fox to Distribute ‘Lone Star’ DVD in Issue of Vanity Fair

DVD will be in October edition, which hits newsstands Sept. 7, and also will be available via Vanity Fair’s iPad app

Fox will distribute a special DVD of the pilot of its new drama "Lone Star" in the October issue of Vanity Fair magazine.

Lone StarThe DVD also will contain a trailer for the upcoming 20th Century Fox film "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps."

In addition, the full-length premiere episode of "Lone Star" will be available to users who purchase and download the October issue through Vanity Fair's iPad app.

Fox is the first network to make a full pilot available for preview via Vanity Fair's iPad app.

Vanity Fair's October issue hits newsstands on Sept. 7. The "Lone Star" premiere will be available on the magazine's iPad app for two weeks. After that, only an extended preview will be available.

"Lone Star" premieres on Fox at 9 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 20.

Set in Texas, "Lone Star" is a primetime soap opera that has been likened to an updated, modern version of the long-running hit TV show "Dallas."

Joe Earley, president of marketing and communications for Fox, said in a statement, "The central story is about a charismatic young man leading two lives, both of which are cons. It's the kind of story you could find in the magazine, and we believe their readers will enjoy the series."

Edward Menicheschi, Vanity Fair VP and publisher, said in a statement, "Whether you buy the magazine on the newsstand or via your iPad, you'll be able to see an exciting new show a couple of weeks before it debuts. This is just another way of keeping our audience involved in the cultural conversation."

"Lone Star" stars James Wolk, Adrianne Palicki, Eloise Mumford, Bryce Johnson, Mark Deklin, David Keith and Jon Voight, and is written and executive produced by Kyle Killen. Chris Keyser, Amy Lippman, Kerry Kohansky, Paul Weitz and Peter Horton also serve as executive producers. And it's a production of 20th Century Fox Television, Depth of Field Productions and Keyser/Lippman Productions.
