Fox News Is the Preferred Network of GOP Presidential Candidates

Nearly every major potential Republican nominee has an exclusive contract with the conservative cable news network.

Fox News faces a unique ethical dilemma heading into the 2012 elections — nearly every major potential Republican candidate is on the staff of the conservative cable news network.

According to an extensive report from Politico.com, every likely Republican Presidential candidate except Mitt Romney has a Fox contributor contract. Sarah Palin, Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich all currently have deals with the network.

These contributor contracts could be an issue as the elections progress because the Fox contributors have exclusive deals with the network and will not appear on rival news channels. Some experts also suggest that Fox's payment and airtime could be seen as valuable contributions from Fox to the candidates in advance of the election.

Fox told Politico that any contributor who officially declares themselves a Presidential candidate will have to sever ties with the channel.
