Fox News Sues U.S. Senate Candidate Over Ad

The network says Chris Wallace is made to look like a “campaign operative”

fox news logoFox News has sued a U.S. Senate candidate in Missouri, accusing her campaign of using unauthorized footage in an advertisement.

The Robin Carnahan campaign ad gives the impression that Fox News and Chris Wallace, a network host, support her over her opponent, Roy Blunt, according to papers filed by Fox in federal court and reported by Bloomberg.

“The Carnahan ad is designed to make it appear as if Wallace — a trusted journalist — is instead speaking as a campaign operative,” Fox said in the complaint, which also lists Wallace as a plaintiff.

The footage in question is from a 2006 Wallace interview with Blunt, a Republican congressman. Carnahan is a Democrat.
