Jack Bauer returns to save the world once more on May 5

Fox has set premiere dates for event series “24: Live Another Day,” along with new series “Surviving Jack” and “Gang Related.”

The new chapter reunites the Emmy Award-winning team of executive producer Howard Gordon; star and executive producer Kiefer Sutherland; co-creator Robert Cochran; executive producers Evan Katz, Manny Coto, David Fury and Brian Grazer; and executive producer and director Jon Cassar.

Set and shot in London, the event series once again will follow the world-saving exploits of Jack Bauer (Sutherland). New comedy series “Surviving Jack” will premiere on Thursday, Mar. 27 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT, following an “American Idol” results show. From executive producer and Emmy Award nominee Bill Lawrence (“Cougar Town”), “Surviving Jack” is based on best-selling author Justin Halpern's autobiographical book, “I Suck at Girls.”

Co-created and written by Halpern (“$#*! My Dad Says”) and Patrick Schumacker (“$#*! My Dad Says”), the series is set in 1990s Southern California, and stars Emmy Award nominee Christopher Meloni (“Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”) as a man becoming a dad while his son (Connor Buckley, “Deception”) becomes a man. The series also stars Rachael Harris (“New Girl”), Claudia Lee (“Hart of Dixie”), Kevin Hernandez (“The Sitter”) and Tyler Foden.

Finally, new action-drama “Gang Related” will have its series premiere on Tuesday, May 20 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, following Part One of the two-night “American Idol” season finale. Created and written by Chris Morgan (“Fast Five”), “Gang Related” follows Ryan Lopez (Ramon Rodriguez, “The Wire”), a rising star in Los Angeles’ elite Gang Task Force — led by Sam Chapel (Emmy Award winner Terry O'Quinn, “Lost”) — who teams up with longtime Task Force member Cassius Green (RZA, “Californication”) to take on the city's most dangerous gangs, including one that he joined to as a boy. The series also stars Cliff Curtis (“Live Free or Die Hard”), Sung Kang (“Fast Five”), Rey Gallegos (“24”), Jay Hernandez, (“Hostel”), Inbar Lavi (“Street Kings 2: Motor City”) and Shantel VanSanten (“One Tree Hill”).

“Gang Related” is executive-produced by Morgan, Scott Rosenbaum (“The Shield”), Brian Grazer (“24”) and Francie Calfo (“Those Who Kill”).

The announcements were made on Monday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.

Now I can't wait for May 5th. A big 24 fan & I don't like violence but 24 is on my top 5 favorite ever TV programs. It must be the great acting, writing & plot lines. Don't know who was in charge of casting but they did a great job except for Jeanine Garafolo she just didn't fit.

Usually 10 people die in the first 30 seconds. Can't wait for May 5th too.

Ha! I know, which makes me wonder why I like 24 so much. I won't even watch Hockey games because I hate it when they start fighting. Maybe if the living characters on 24 when around with missing teeth & black eyes I'd stop watching it too. ha!!

Makes it easier for you maybe because no time to get to know the characters that die :-) Agent calls actor; I have a part for you on 24! Your the 14th person to die during the opening credits…..The show has it all. Sure hope they don't change a thing.

Hey never thought of that. I do ‘grieve’ when a character I've grown to like is killed off. I shout at the screen No, no, no. And hope somehow they will bring them back. You are right that I hope they don't change anything. I did some researching as I couldn't remember who ‘Heller’ the character Wm. Devane plays was. So they brought him ‘back’ for an interesting part. And his’ daughter ‘ too, but I don't think they had ever killed her off.
