You knew it was coming. One lean, featureless disc and a 3D re-release later, Fox announced Tuesday that it was releasing an extended edition of “Avatar.” The collectors edition will include eight hours of extras spread out over three discs.
This latest attempt to separate Pandora-philes from their hard-earned dough, kicks off on November 16 in North America.
Blu-rays and DVDs will be released internationally on November 17.
"I told our team — let's do the ultimate box set of Avatar, with everything in it the fans could possibly want,” James Cameron said in a statement. “Everything worth putting into a special edition is in this set."
“Avatar” fans will get an all-new extended cut of the film and hours of never-before seen material including over 45 minutes of deleted scenes. There are also documentaries, features, and artwork.
The new extended cut has sixteen more minutes including an alternate opening Earth scene. “Capturing Avatar“ an in-depth feature length documentary covering the 16 year filmmaker journey including all new interviews with James Cameron, producer Jon Landau and cast and crew.
