Fox Sports Promotes Execs David Nathanson, Bill Wanger

Scott Ackerson, George Greenberg also move up in rank

Veteran Fox Sports executives David Nathanson and Bill Wanger are moving up, the company announced Thursday.

Nathanson has been appointed general manager and chief operating officer of Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2, a newly created position. Wanger, previously Fox Sports’ executive vice president of Programming & Research, adds one more department to his business card as executive vice president, Programming, Research & Content Strategy.

“It’s been over three months since we launched Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2, and over time we’ve identified areas that require focused attention from experienced executives,” said Eric Shanks, president, chief operating officer & executive producer, Fox Sports. “David and Bill are two of the most valued executives at Fox Sports, and we’re excited to expand and redefine their roles.”

Reporting to Nathanson, as the senior management team guiding both national sports channels, are 19-year Fox Sports veterans Scott Ackerson, who becomes executive vice president of news and George Greenberg, whose title is now executive vice president, Content Integration & Presentation.

Nathanson, who spearheaded Fox Sports’ FIFA World Cup rights acquisition in 2011, will continue to manage Fox Soccer Plus in his updated chair.

In addition to his current responsibilities overseeing programming and research for all Fox Sports linear channels, Wanger’s new responsibilities include content strategy for all Fox Sports outlets and assessing long-term rights acquisition opportunities and value.
