Fred Armisen to Lead ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers’ House Band

Former “Saturday Night Live” funnyman will curate and continue to run the band even when shooting “Portlandia”

Move over, Roots: Seth Meyers‘ former “SNL” colleague Fred Armisen will be the bandleader on the new version of “Late Night.”

“Fred will curate and lead the band, and continue to run it even when he’s off shooting Portlandia,” Meyers tweeted on Monday, a few minutes after posting a photo of the Studio 8G Band on the social media site, with Armisen front and center on guitar.

Armisen’s own show, “Portlandia,” returns to IFC on Feb. 27. “Portlandia” will also be back for a fifth season beginning in 2015.
