The Disney on Ice production is scheduled to tour through 31 cities in North America, so far
“Frozen” will be the next Disney movie to be turned into an ice-skating spectacle, the company announced on Tuesday, and fans are already clamoring for tickets.
Over 31,000 fans have “liked” the announcement on Facebook in order to unlock the pre-sale code for tickets to 31 arena tour stops across the country, scheduled to kick off in Orlando, Florida on Sept. 5.
The show will follow the plot of the Academy Award-winning film, and will be hosted by Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Fans can expect other Disney princesses making special guest appearances, as well as characters from “Toy Story,” “Finding Nemo” and “The Lion King.”
“Frozen,” directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, featured the voices of Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel as princesses Anna and Elsa, respectively. The box office juggernaut, which has grossed over $1.2 billion worldwide, won two Oscars, including Best Animated Film of the Year and Best Original Song.
While Buck and Lee will consult the creative team behind the show, production company Feld Entertainment named Patty Vincent director. Cindy Stuart is choreographer.
“In our more than 30 years of producing Disney On Ice shows, Feld Entertainment has been waiting for a film like this,” producer Nicole Feld said in a statement. “While it might seem obviously that ‘Frozen’ is well suited for the ice, this Disney On Ice production will touch audiences emotionally through innovative show elements and world-class skating.”
