‘Galavant’ Star Timothy Omundson Teases ‘Most Epic’ Season 2 (Video)

“I was galloping a Friesen stallion while wearing armor through the Moroccan desert,” ABC actor tells TheWrap’s “Drinking With the Stars”

Had Timothy Omundson listened to his parents growing up, he’d probably be working for Microsoft.

Luckily Omundson, who who plays the self-proclaimed evil King Richard on “Galavant,” decided to go a different direction.

“I was galloping a Friesen stallion while wearing armor through the Moroccan desert,” Omundson told TheWrap’s “Drinking With the Stars.” “This is what I do for a living. How the hell did that happen?”

“Galavant,” a musical packed into a comedy set in a Medieval fairy tale kingdom, is returning to ABC on Sunday with a whole new plot line and a slew of big-name stars, including Kylie Minogue and “Downton Abbey’s” Hugh Bonneville and Sophie McShera.

The show picks off where it left off last season, with Galavant (Joshua Sasse) and his nemesis King Richard working together this time. Galavant is intent on rescuing his love Isabella (Karen David), who is still captive; King Richard, having been deposed by his queen Madalena (Mallory Jansen) and henchman Gareth (Vinnie Jones), is looking to get his throne back.

“It’s a whole new Richard,” Omundson said. “Last season, as you all obviously know, we sort of broke him down from this evil king into this blathering man singing a lullaby to his best friend at the end. This year it’s more about how do we build him back up?”

And if you’re wondering how this season will compare to the last, fear not. According to Omundson, it’s going to be a doozy.

“It is the most epic season of television I’ve ever been involved with,” he said. “And I’ve been doing this for 20-somehting years.”

You can watch Omundson’s episode of “Drinking With the Stars” above.

“Galavant” returns Sunday, January 3, on ABC at 8 p.m. ET with two 30-minute back-to-back episodes.
