‘Game Change’ Author John Heilemann, Jeff Kwatinetz Team for Political Thriller

Treatment from John Heilemann and Jeff Kwatinetz would focus on a string of events that could lead to a revolution in the U.S.

Fresh off of the Emmys triumph for the HBO adaptation of his presidential campaign book "Game Change," John Heilemann is entering the political arena once again.

Getty ImagesHeilemann, who co-authored "Game Change" with Mark Halperin, is developing a television treatment for a political thriller with Prospect Park co-founder Jeff Kwatinetz, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

The project, which focuses on a string of incidents that could lead to a revolution in the U.S., is generating a lot of interest around town — which isn't surprising, given the impressive showing that "Game Change" had at this year's Emmy Awards.

"Game Change" was among the bigger winners at Sunday night's Emmys, taking home wins for outstanding miniseries or movie, writing, directing and lead actress, which Julianne Moore won for her portrayal of former Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

"New York" journalist Heilemann and Kwatinetz are long-time friends. Heilemann thanked Kwatinetz in "Game Change," counting him among "a panoply of pals" who "provided me with less tangible, but no less invaluable, forms of aid and comfort."
