Blumhouse is also behind the new film based on the classic children’s game
A board game hasn’t caused this much trouble since “Jumanji.” A group of teenagers play a game of “Ouija” in the first trailer for the horror flick of the same name, and almost immediately regret it.
Douglas Smith, Olivia Cooke, Ana Coto, Bianca A. Santos, Erin Moriarty and Daren Kagasoff play the unfortunate teenagers who decide to try to contact their recently deceased friend (Shelley Hennig), an earlier victim of the Ouija board herself.
Apparently these teenagers live in a universe where a Ouija board is not a widely-available game simulating a seance, but an actual ancient artifact that actually has supernatural powers. Following the world’s creepiest “Hi Friend” greeting, very bad things begin to happen to our group telegenic teens.
“Ouija” was directed by Stiles White and will be released on Oct. 24, just in time for Halloween.
