“Game of Thrones” star Kit Harington isn’t necessarily “happy” about being contractually obligated to get naked on camera, but he thinks the prospect is completely warranted.
“It’s only right, if you’re going to make a show where nudity and sex is a large part of it, that you be a part of that,” the actor told GQ in the magazine’s April cover story. “I wouldn’t say I’d be happy about it.”
Fans of the show based on George R.R. Martin‘s novel series, “A Song of Ice and Fire,” may think the 27-year-old actor — who plays Jon Snow on the fantasy series — already disrobed for a steamy cave sex scene with wildling Ygritte (Rose Leslie). However, the butt viewers saw diving into water actually belonged to a crew member who acted as a last-minute stand in.
“When it came down to it I had a broken ankle, so the only time you saw my ass, it wasn’t my ass,” Harington said.
So will Snow ever go full frontal, as plenty of other characters — usually female — have done?
“I’m not saying. Because I don’t know,” Harington said. “It would have to be f—ing well deserved.”
As for his character’s future on the show, Harington hopes it is bright — providing he doesn’t meet same kind of unexpected fate like that which befell his half-brother, Robb Stark (Richard Madden), last season.
“I think Jon Snow is one of the last bastions of a young hero who might do a good thing,” Harington said.
“There’s a huge amount riding on him to be a leader, and I want him to become that leader. I guess for me, Jon Snow is a figure of hope within the whole thing — that he’ll continue to be this good person, and somehow the story will end well for everybody.”
