‘Game of Thrones’ Videogame May Force Us to Switch to a PC

Are you kidding us with how awesome these screenshots look?

Given the massive success of HBO's "Game of Thrones" and Tuesday's long-anticipated release of George R.R. Martin's "A Dance With Dragons," there may be no more bankable idea in the video game industry than a title set in the universe of "A Song of Ice and Fire" fantasy series.

Well, looky here! Cyanide Studio has been working on just such a game: The crafty developer is prepping "A Game of Thrones: Genesis" for a tentative release later this year.

The PC-only game should go a long way toward appeasing hungry Martin fans who wolfed down "A Dance With Dragons" and who would otherwise face a lack of new material until season two of the HBO series debuts in Spring 2012. Even if "Game of Thrones: Genesis" turns out to be terrible.

But that hardly seems possible, given the head-slappingly tasty-looking slew of screenshots that have been released on the developer's new website for the game. Just pointing and clicking around these well-rendered scenes has made us wish, yet again, that we were Ned Stark — only without that whole beheading thing.
