George Clooney Testifies at Fraud Trial

Celebrity watchers pack Milan courtroom to see actor testify

The arrival of Hollywood star George Clooney to testify at a fraud trial at Milan's Fascist-era Palace of Justice caused a buzz of excitement on Friday.

Clooney said, through an interpreter, that photographs purportedly showing him in the company of two of the defendants had been doctored and his signature on numerous documents had been forged or photocopied.

"I don't smoke, I don't own that watch and I don't wear this type of jeans," Clooney said, after examining a photograph presented to him by the public prosecutor, Letizia Mannella.
