George Pataki Announces 2016 Presidential Bid (Video)

The former New York governor enters a crowded Republican field

Former New York governor George Pataki joined the long list of Republicans vying for the party’s 2016 presidential nomination on Thursday.

Pataki announced his first presidential bid with a campaign launch video on his website and YouTube page titled “Pataki for President 2016.”

Narrating over images of New York streets and several of his pre-campaign appearances, Pataki touts his three-term governorship in the heavily Democratic state as an example of his ability to unite people.

“I was a Republican governor in a deep blue state,” Pataki says in the video,” and it’s because people realized that my vision was not a partisan vision. It was a vision about people, about what we could accomplish together.”

Prior to being elected governor, Pataki served as mayor of Peekskill, New York and went on to serve as state assemblyman and state senator. Currently, he is Of Counsel with Chadbourne and Parke LLC, and president of business development firm Pataki-Cahill Group.
