George Stephanopoulos Replacing Christiane Amanpour on ABC’s ‘This Week’

Amanpour will report for ABC and CNN — Stephanopoulos will continue to co-host “Good Morning America”

Everything in news is old again: George Stephanopolous will return to ABC's "This Week" to replace Christiane Amanpour, who will continue to report for ABC as well as her former network, CNN.

Stephanopolous will continue to co-host "Good Morning America," and Amanpour will report across all of ABC's platforms as the network's global affairs anchor, ABC said.

Amanpour will also host a weekday show for CNN International. She served as CNN's chief international correspondent for 27 years before joining ABC last year. "This Week" has slipped in ratings since she took over for Stephanopolous, following three months of Jake Tapper serving as interim anchor.

"I am looking forward to getting back into the field to report stories on global issues that matter greatly to the American people," Amanpour said in a statement. "At the same time, I will be broadcasting once again to millions of people across the world with a weekday show on CNN International. … This role is groundbreaking, bold and very different!  I am thrilled and honored."

Stephanopolous will be joined each Sunday on "This Week" by Tapper and other ABC News correspondents.
