Riley navigates middle school with the help of her friends
Disney Channel's “Boy Meets World” sequel just keeps getting cuter. The latest teaser for the upcoming revival is all about the kids. The original series, starring Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel, followed Cory as he navigated adolescence and found love in the arms of classmate Topanga. Now, the couple are all grown up and have a daughter of their own in “Girl Meets World.”
Riley, played by newcomer Rowan Blanchard, takes center stage in this new series with Savage and Fishel on board as her very patient parents. While the return of the original cast has garnered much of the attention in the lead-up to the series’ premiere on Fri., June 27, the network's latest teaser turns the spotlight on the precocious kids that will carry most of the stories.
Riley is shown palling around with her best friend, Maya (Sabrina Carpenter), crushing on Luke (Peyton Meyer), and … putting up with Farkle (Corey Fogelmanis). Every Disney show seems to have its quirky kid, and Farkle's name makes it pretty clear that he's that kid — he's also the son of Cory's geek rival from “BMW,” Stuart. According to the teaser, these kids are “in it together, and together, they'll solve the mysteries of middle school.”
“Girl Meets World” co-stars Auggie Matthews as Riley's little brother. Several “Boy Meets World” cast-members are set to return, including Rider Strong, William Daniels, Danny McNulty, Lee Norris, William Russ, and Betsy Randle.
