OWN Gives Tyler Perry’s ‘House of Payne’ Spinoff 38-Episode Order

Network also picks up additional episodes of “The Haves and the Have Nots” and “If Loving You is Wrong”

OWN has picked up a new Tyler Perry comedy series, the network announced on Monday.

A spinoff of Perry’s TBS comedy “House of Payne,” “The Paynes” was given a 38-episode order by the network and will be written, directed and produced by Perry. LaVan Davis and Cassi Davis will reprise their roles from the original series.

In addition, OWN has ordered 44 additional episodes of Perry’s hit OWN drama series “The Haves and the Have Nots” and 18 episodes of “If Loving You is Wrong.”

The series meets back up with Curtis and Ella Payne who are trying to enjoy their retirement in Florida only to get roped into a real estate deal that will tumble their lives like clothes in a dryer. It is set to premiere in 2018.

OWN also announced on Monday that the upcoming seasons of Perry’s other two comedies at the network, “Love Thy Neighbor” and “For Better or Worse,” will be their last. “Love Thy Neighbor” will return for Season 4 on Saturday, March 4, and “For Better or Worse” will return for Season 6 on Saturday, June 10.

“Tyler has been an incredible collaborator, a great partner and has an unprecedented track record of success with his hit scripted series,” OWN President Erik Logan said in a statement. “Tyler’s shows are must see TV for his loyal audience and we are excited to offer up a brand-new comedy and more episodes of their favorite Tyler dramas on OWN. We also would like to thank the entire casts of both ‘Love Thy Neighbor’ and ‘For Better or Worse’ who have given us loads of laughs over the years. Both series have had great runs and we appreciate everyone’s hard work and dedication.”
