‘Glee’ Christmas Guest: Chewbacca (Yes, Really)

The “Star Wars” Wookiee pops up in the Dec. 13 episode, in Artie’s dream

"Glee" is paying tribute to the still-baffing "Star Wars" holiday special with help from a very special guest: Chewbacca.

"Glee" star Matthew Morrison, who directed the Dec. 13 holiday episode, said on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" that it pays tribute to "The Judy Garland Christmas Show," as well as the infamous 1978 "Star Wars" special, which focuses on Chewie's family celebrating something called "Life Day."

"There's only one guy who can officially be Chewbacca," Morrison said. "We had Chewbacca for the day. It was great. We were all taking pictures with him. It is a huge guest star."

"Glee" cast members from Chris Colfer to Harry Shum have tweeted photos of themselves with Chewbacca.

Harry Shum, who plays Mike, says Chewbacca appears in a dream by "Glee" geek Artie (Kevin McHale).

"It was incredibly awesome," Shum told AOL TV. "It was a huge surprise. (Chewbacca) makes an appearance into Artie's dream in a way. I can't really delve into the details, but it's something to do with Artie."
