Some see the current state of Hollywood to be alarming. Not filmmaker Paul Weitz.

“I think it’s creatively a good thing that the Hollywood system is in a degree of freefall,” the “Grandma” director said at a Q&A with TheWrap CEO Sharon Waxman as part of TheWrap Screening Series.

“Most studio heads are fairly intelligent people,” he said. “It’s just that they can’t belly up to that table unless they’re making a certain kind of movie.”
