‘Gravity’ Trailer Showcases Sandra Bullock in Chilling Space Disaster

Alfonso Cuarón's eagerly awaited follow up to "Children of Men" looks scary, yet oddly beautiful

In space no one can hear you scream… but that doesn't stop Sandra Bullock from giving her pipes a work out in the new trailer for "Gravity."

Instead of the standard gimmick of splicing together a series of scenes and peppering the whole thing with a little voice of God narration, the teaser for Alfonso Cuarón's eagerly awaited follow up to "Children of Men" highlights a single bravura sequence.

In a series of seemingly uninterrupted shots, the camera tracks Bullock's astronaut and her colleague George Clooney as their space shuttle is pummeled by space debris sending them careening through space.

It's chilling, yet oddly beautiful. Just what you'd expect from Cuarón. "Gravity" hits theaters on October 4, 2013.

The film will debut at the Venice Film Festival this August and will screen the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival, which could signal it will be a major awards contender.
