Based on the books by del Toro and Chuck Hogan, the FX series treats vampirism as an infectious outbreak
“The Strain” is looking to put a whole new twist on the vampire genre. Based on the novel trilogy by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan, the pair wrote the pilot episode with del Toro directing it. In their story, the classic vampire mythology is re-imagined as a deadly viral outbreak that must be stopped before it spreads uncontrollably.
FX is keeping a close lid on details, but they have offered a few short teasers that are heavy on atmosphere. And creepy crawling things.
Worms have never been so scary.
Carlton Cuse executive produces alongside del Toro, Hogan, and Gary Ungar. Distributed by 20th Television, ‘The Strain” stars Corey Stoll, Kevin Durand, Sean Astin, Mia Maestro, David Bradley, Natalie Brown, Richard Sammel, Jonathan Hyde, Miguel Gomez, Francis Capra, Leslie Hope, Robert Maillet, and Regina King.
