Hamburger Helper Drops Mixtape ‘Watch The Stove,’ and It’s Not An April Fools’ Joke

Well, it is a joke of some sort, but it’s certainly very real

Wary of April Fools nonsense, you probably saw some tweets about Hamburger Helper’s “Watch The Stove” mixtape and assumed it was some other fake thing. But it’s not.

The food company dropped the five tracks from “Watch the Stove,” which carry names like “In Love With the Glove” and “Food for Your Soul,” on Soundcloud.

And somehow it’s actually pretty good. If you weren’t paying attention to the lyrics, which are mostly about eating Hamburger Helper, you might not even realize it’s a weird marketing stunt for April Fools’ Day.

While the title is a spin on the Kanye West/Jay-Z record “Watch the Throne,” it doesn’t otherwise appear to be a parody. It’s five original hip hop tracks — about Hamburger Helper.

So it’s both funny and decent entertainment. That’s what you call an April Fools’ Day win.
