‘Harry Potter 7′ Becomes Series’ Top Int’l Earner

“Deathly Hallows Part 1” has now taken in more than $657 million worldwide … as Warner prepares to wind down the franchise

Is Warner sure it's ready to stop making "Harry Potter" movies?

The studio announced Wednesday that the series' seventh installment, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1," became the franchise's all-time best earner at the foreign box office, taking in $657.2 million to date.

That number narrowly beat the $657 million taken in by "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" (that's the foreign title for the first movie).

"Philosopher's Stone" is still the top earning Potter movie worldwide, taking in $974.7 million. "Deathly Hallows" has grossed just over $951 million.

The series eighth and final installment, "Deathly Hallows Part 2," arrives in theaters July 15.
