Hated Drug CEO Martin Shkreli Sets Up Live Stream in Apartment 1 Day After Arrest (Video)

Executive became infamous when he raised price of HIV pill from $13.50 to $750 apiece, and delighted critics when arrested Thursday for security fraud charges

Martin Shkreli, the publicly despised pharmaceutical executive who was arrested Thursday on charges of securities fraud, returned home Friday and set up a live stream from his apartment on YouTube.

Throughout the video, Shkreli can be seen wandering through his apartment, a place filled with musical instruments. The drug CEO, who  became infamous when he raised price of HIV pill from $13.50 to $750 apiece, is wearing a purple PBS t-shirt and pajama bottoms.

At the beginning of the video, he told viewers, “Good to be back. I missed you too,”while responding to their comments.

“I can’t really talk about business or anything,” he added. “So please don’t ask me about businesses or any allegations or anything like that.”

Shkreli was arrested Thursday and was charged with securities fraud related to his time as a hedge fund manager and as head of the biopharmaceutical company Retrophin. The controversy around the price hike of HIV drug Daraprim didn’t appear to have factored in the arrest.

In 2011, Shkreli founded Retrophin, which acquired old, neglected drugs with the intent of raising their prices substantially. The New York Times reported that Retrophin raised the price for Thiola, a pill used to treat a disease that causes kidney stones, from $1.50 to $30 a pill.

Shkreli is also known for his expensive musical taste. Earlier this month,  Shkreli bought a one-of-a-kind Wu-Tang Clan album titled “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin,” for which he reportedly shelled out $2 million.
