Hear Emma Watson Sing in ‘Beauty and the Beast’ TV Spot (Video)

The new spot features Watson singing a piece of Belle’s theme

When it was announced that Emma Watson would play Belle in the “Beauty and the Beast” remake, Disney and Harry Potter fans alike couldn’t wait to hear her take on the famed musical’s classic songs. The wait is over: Disney released a snippet of Watson singing in a new TV spot that aired Sunday night during the Golden Globes.

The commercial shows Belle entering the castle and encountering the Beast (Dan Stevens) for the first time while Watson sings about longing for “adventure in the great wide somewhere.” We also get to hear Ewan McGregor sport a French accent as the dancing candelabra Lumiere and other enchanted residents of Beast’s castle like Cogsworth (Ian McKellen), Mrs. Potts (Emma Thompson) and Nathan Mack (Chip).

We previously got to hear Watson’s voice through a “Beauty and the Beast” doll. But it obviously isn’t the same as hearing and seeing the new Belle.

“Beauty and the Beast” is directed by Bill Condon (“Chicago”) with a screenplay by Stephen Chbosky and Evan Spiliotopoulos. Alan Menken, who wrote the songs for the original animated film with Howard Ashman, will return to score the film. The film is produced by David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman (“The Fighter”).

“Beauty and the Beast” premieres in theaters March 17. Watch the TV spot above.
