‘Hello’ Adele, Lionel Richie Has a Question for You (Photo)

’80s icon creates a mash-up of his own on social media

Adele’s “Hello” has already been turned into a mash-up video with Lionel Richie’s song of the same name, but the ’80s pop star, himself, got in on the fun this weekend on Saturday.

“HELLO @adele is it me you’re looking for… ” the singer tweeted, along with a split screen image of the two of them holding phones.

The internet’s original “Hello” mashup video, which dropped Friday, revolves around a phone conversation between Adele and Richie, which ends up being all too brief because — predictably — Adele hangs up the phone on him.

The song itself has essentially the exact same note kickoff as the chorus of Richie’s tune. The newer ditty becomes very different from there: Adele belts out lyrics of a tragic breakup, and the video follows suit in sepia tone.

On Thursday Adele announced her new age-named album, “25,” which will hit shelves on Nov. 20. Her 2011 album “21” spent 24 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, the longest stretch atop the list for a female recording artist.
