Hillary Clinton is “puzzled” by women who support gender equality, but refuse to identify as a feminist.

“I’m always a little bit puzzled when any woman of whatever age, but particularly a young woman, says something like, ‘Well, I believe in equal rights but I’m not a feminist.’ Well, a feminist is by definition someone who believes in equal rights,” the Democratic presidential candidate told Lena Dunham in an interview for her new site, LennyLetter.com

Clinton continued to talk about the preconceived notion that feminists are man-haters, and defined what the term “feminist” actually means.

“I’m hoping that people will not be afraid to say, ‘That doesn’t mean you hate men.’ It doesn’t mean you want to separate out the world, so you’re not a part of ordinary life — that’s not what it means at all!” Clinton said. “It just means that we believe that women have the same rights as men, politically, culturally, socially, economically.”

LennyLetter.com, created by Dunham and “Girls” executive producer Jennifer Konner, launches on Sept. 29.

According to Politico, the full interview will cover other topics like student debt and women’s health during the interview.

A new Bloomberg Politics poll from Wednesday shows that Clinton remains the top choice for president among Democrats and people who lean Democratic, but Sen. Bernie Sanders is close behind her. While Clinton received 33 percent of the votes in the poll, Vice President Joe Biden earned 25 percent support even though he hasn’t decided to run. Sanders received 24 percent support.
