‘Vikings’ Season 3 Trailer: ‘Power Is Always Dangerous, It Attracts the Worst’ (Video)

History Channel’s first scripted drama following Ragnar Lothbrok’s ambitions returns on Feb. 19

History Channel released the “Vikings” Season 3 trailer Wednesday and any chance of peace for the warriors appears nonexistent.

In the video, Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) and his horde are settling into Wessex while plotting another pillage further west in Paris. The season picks up after Ragnar gained power following the deaths of his adversaries in Season 2, Jarl Borg (Thorbjørn Harr) and King Horik (Donal Logue).

“Power is always dangerous,” Ragnar says overlooking his frozen village of Kattegat. “It attracts the worst.”

His ambitions have had a ripple effect triggering bloodshed, deceit and strained family relationships. Still, the warrior moves forward.

“We fight. That is how we win. That is how we die,” he tells his son Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) in the trailer.

History Channel’s first scripted drama, the series returns for 10 episodes with Ragnar’s wife Queen Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland), shield maiden and Earl Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick), brother Rollo (Clive Standen), Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard), confidant Athelstan (George Blagden) and Wessex’s King Ecbert (Linus Roache).

“Vikings” returns Thursday, Feb. 19 at 10 p.m. on the History Channel
