Berry is now officially full-time host of “Weekend Express,” where she’s been filling in since December
HLN viewers will see a lot more of a few familiar faces, and should get used to two new ones as well.
Lynn Berry, who had been filling in on “Weekend Express” since December has been named host of the show. Brian McFayden was named sports anchor, “Morning Express With Robin Meade,” where he’s been working for several months.
Ali Nejad and Yasmin Vossoughian are also joining HLN as correspondents, effective this month.
Berry joined HLN in fall 2013 and had previously served as anchor of NBC-TV’s “Early Today,” and MSNBC’s “First Look” since 2010. Earlier Berry was a reporter for WNBC in New York and WCAU in Philadelphia.
McFayden was a one-time host of MTV’s “Total Request Live” and “MTV News”; he has also appeared on Fox Sports Network’s “Best Damn Sports Show.”
Nejad will be based in L.A. and cover general news and entertainment for HLN. Nejad has covered current events, video games, poker and college sports for NBC, ESPN, and Fox Sports 1. In 2012, he covered college football as the host of ESPNU’s “Road Trip”; he currently hosts the ESPN “SportCenter” weekly “Guinness Suite” segment, interviewing celebrities and athletes.
Vossoughian will cover a variety of beats including entertainment and breaking news. Prior to joining HLN, she was a host and producer for a live news and entertainment program at AOL and earlier was a reporter for NY1 and the video news program oneminutenews.com.
“The addition of Lynn and Brian to ‘Weekend Express’ and ‘Morning Express,’ respectively, further amps up the energy and infectiousness of two of HLN’s signature shows,” said Albie Hecht, executive vice president & general manager, HLN. “And we welcome Ali and Yasmin to the fold whose style, wit and smarts will resonate with people watching and engaging across all platforms.”
