The Hollywood Reporter’s Online Editor Joseph Kapsch Departs for Celebuzz

The Hollywood Reporter's online editor has left for Celebuzz after a year running the site, but a slew of recent hires gives Janice Min plenty of options

Joseph Kapsch, editor of THR.com, has left the Hollywood trade to become executive editor of Celebuzz, Kapsch announced on Facebook.

Kapsch joined THR from Zap2it in May of 2011 and will leave May 11. He said the decision was about returning to the East Coast.

“I’ve always said when the right time and opportunity arrived I would eventually head back to New York,” Kapsch wrote on his wall. “Well that time has arrived.”

Kapsch’s departure comes just as THR has been hiring and promoting several journalists. Seth Abramovitch, Erin Carlson and Jordan Zakarin all joined the site in the past couple of months as editors.

Abramovitch was recently at Movieline and is also an alumnus of Gawker, where he left after clashing with editor A.J. Daulerio. He was hired as a deputy editor for the website, so he would seem to be in the running for Kapsch’s spot.

Recent promotions include Georg Szalai to international business editor, Eriq Gardner to senior editor in New York and Jethro Nededog to senior reporter.
