The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department shut down a portion of Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood on Thursday, after a planned free concert at the Roxy drew a crowd that spilled into the street.

According to KTLA, police closed off Sunset between Doheny Drive and San Vicente Boulevard just before 3 p.m. The concert, which was subsequently canceled, began drawing a line in front of the club at 11 a.m., growing to approximately 700 people queuing up in hopes of attending the performance at the 500-capacity venue.

The club’s website listed the night’s performance as the Ataris with opening act Sederra, but Atlanta-based rapper Future was also scheduled to perform a free show at the venue. The theater announced via Twitter slightly before 4 p.m. Thursday that the Future show had been canceled.

“Please follow @1future for updates,” the Roxy’s Twitter account advised.

Thursday’s scuttled performance was intended to be the last of four free shows, dubbed the Salute the Fans tour, which also included performances in Atlanta, Chicago and New York.
