‘Homeland’ Season 5 First Trailer Teases New Danger in New Country (Video)

Claire Danes, Mandy Patinkin, Rupert Friend reprise their roles on hit Showtime drama

Carrie Mathison is in a new country in Season 5 of “Homeland,” but the first trailer suggests she’ll be facing just as much danger.

Season 5 will pick up two years after Carrie’s (Claire Danes) ill-fated tenure as Islamabad station chief. Struggling to reconcile her guilt and disillusionment with years of working on the front lines in the “war on terror,” Carrie finds herself in a self-imposed exile in Berlin, estranged from the CIA and working for a private security firm.

First footage from the new season teases Carrie in dire straits more than once, and she faces scrutiny from her circle of allies. Saul (Patinkin) is seen calling her stupid – something she’s never been before.

Produced by Fox 21 Television Studios, “Homeland” was developed for American television by Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon, and is based on the original Israeli series “Prisoners of War” by Gideon Raff. Along with Gansa and Gordon, the executive producers for season five are Meredith Stiehm, Patrick Harbinson, Chip Johannessen, Alexander Cary, Lesli Linka Glatter, Gideon Raff, Avi Nir and Ran Telem.

The 12-episode fifth season of “Homeland” will premiere this fall on Showtime.
