‘Hot in Cleveland’ Stars Record Animated Episode Songs With ‘Unrehearsed, Instant Harmony’ (Exclusive Video)

The animated ladies of ‘Cleveland’ embark on their musical journey around the world on July 30

TheWrap has an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the cast of TV Land’s “Hot in Cleveland” recording voiceover for the upcoming animated episode.

“It was just so great to be with each other because we build together and it’s just easier when it’s people that you play well with,” Wendie Malick said.

The episode, described as “a psychedelic romp through pop culture hits,” follows Melanie (Valerie Bertinelli), Joy (Jane Leeves), Victoria (Malick) and Elka (Betty White) on a trip around the world, accompanied by musical tributes to “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory,” “The Walking Dead” and “Frankenstein.”

Musician Ron Wasserman, who helped record the songs for the episode, said the ladies had “unrehearsed, instant harmony.”

When he recorded songs with White, he remarked: “I cannot believe somebody who’s 92 can still sing like that.”

To which, White joked: “If you call it singing…Is that what they call it? I’ll be darned.”

The “Hot in Cleveland” animated episode airs Wednesday, July 30 at 10/9c on TV Land.
